The costs of medical treatment in the United States continue to skyrocket- in fact, in the year 2009 the annual price of health insurance coverage rose 5%, according to a survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Health Research & Educational Trust. Most of the procedures that a typical health traveler has today are cosmetic or plastic surgeries that would have been twice as expensive-or more- in the United States. The growing availability of highly qualified expert surgeons in countries such as India, Singapore, Mexico, Thailand, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and Israel has opened up countless options for Americans seeking cosmetic or other non-acute surgery at a reasonable cost. However, finding the surgeons and the healthcare facilities to perform the surgeries can be challenging, especially because the surgery will be performed overseas.
